After years of saving, in 1989 Bill Whitters invested in his first Industrial Vacuum Truck. Bill Whitters Construction (BWC) was founded. The company's main service was cleaning a single industrial facility located in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. In the early 1990's BWC had an employee roster of 5 full-time employees. By the end of the 90's, had grown to 15-20 full time employees and the services were advancing on the industrial cleaning front but also BWC began providing excavation work.
On February 28, 2005 BWC expanded our operations. A full-time branch in Camanche, Iowa was established to service the Clinton area. Our employee base rose from 50-60 employees to include over 175 employees between the Cedar Rapids and Clinton branches. A company known for its problem-solving, efficiency and high quality of work, credits growth to client referrals.
Due to steady growth Bill Whitters Construction (BWC Companies) made the decision to divide the company into two divisions: BWC Industrial Services LLC. & BWC Excavating LC were born in 2007. By the end of 2008 we had reached an employee base of 300 full-time employees, and in 2009 we expanded yet again and opened a third fully staffed branch in Columbus, Nebraska.
While working for his father in the mid-80's, William Whitters (Bill), had an idea:
"I was working for the old man down at ADM sweeping the ground with a broom. I told him that he should invest in a vacuum truck and his response was, "nah, we don't need any of that. It costs too much and it's not what the customers want."
